MU.SA - SINTRA MUSEUM OF ART (MUSEU DAS ARTES DE SINTRA)

Sintra has always drawn artists and has inspired great pieces of art for centuries. Located in beautiful neo-Classical building which in the 1920's was Sintra's casino, the MU.SA art museum presents a collection of works mostly by local contemporary artists as well as paintings and sculptures crafted by Portuguese and foreign artists residing in Portugal. The resident collection features works from some of Portugal's best-known artists, most notably the sculptor Dorita de Castel-Branco and painters Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro and António Carneiro and several paintings from various artists of Sintra's 18th-century heyday.

Within the Municipal Gallery the museum also presents temporary exhibits from a wide variety of topics, generations and style. There is also an area dedicated to photography and a Municipal Library.
